- **Event Description**: Create your very own hardcover watercolor sketchbook! This elegant book structure opens flat, making it ideal for watercolor painting, sketching, journaling, and field studies. Students will learn how to measure and fold watercolor paper, assemble the book block, construct a hardcover case, and bring all the components together into a finished artist’s book using the drum-leaf binding technique. Participants can personalize their books with a selection of decorative papers and book cloth.

No previous bookbinding experience is required. Each participant will leave with one completed, ready-to-use watercolor sketchbook and an understanding of foundational book-construction techniques.

This is a one day workshop that will be taught on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This class is for ages 16 and over. The cost of this workshop is $56 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside the Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St, Santa Paula, CA. Free parking is available directly behind the building and students may enter through the front or back door.
