Urban Sketchers Tulsa chapter is planning a Centennial Exhibit in four different cities along Route 66, with a plan to publish the artwork in the exhibition. Four copies of the sketch at the size of the original, and a signed agreement and release must be mailed by June 15. For more information, please email us at urbansketchersla at gmail dot com with subject line “Route 66 Exhibit”. ===== Santa Monica Pier is a symbolic endpoint of Route 66 with a commemorative signage. This is a good opportunity to sketch for the Route 66 exhibit for those of you who are interested in participating. Besides the Route 66 signage (and tourists who are taking pictures of them), there are ocean views, Pacific Park amusement park with a ferris wheel, and Carousel building with a historic merry-go-round to sketch. Please note that the Pier bridge is under renovation and partially fenced off. No cars are allowed on the bridge. The admins will be available in front of Bubba Shrimp restaurant between 10-10:15am if you are new to our group and/or first time at the Pier and would like some guidance. We'll meet near the seating area behind the Carousel at 12:30pm for our "Sketchbook Throwdown" and take a group photo nearby. Please walk around the fenced off area near the carousel building to access it. The first two levels in all structures will be dedicated to 3 hour parking only. From the Parking Structure 8, walk west on Colorado Avenue. You can see the Santa Monica Pier sign from the street.
