J.S. Bach’s stylized suites of Baroque dances have inspired centuries of imitations, including these from a French romantic and an Austrian-American modernist.
Though he is celebrated for developing atonality, Schoenberg never lost his love for tonal music, and he shows it in this fascinating Suite in G Major.
Perfumed with gorgeous French harmonies, Gabriel Faure will give us his impressionist take, and we'll finish with the model itself; Bach’s Orchestral Suite #3 which includes the famous “Air on the G String”.
