NNENNA FREELON
An SFMC Platinum series concert in partnership with Outpost Productions.
Seven-time GRAMMY Award nominee Nnenna Freelon and multi-Award winning artist, Freelon has earned a well-deserved reputation as a compelling and Captivating live Performer.
2025 has brought her PBS-NC TV Special in the new series Shaped By Sound, her new album release “Beneath The Skin”, followed by her debut book (Beneath The Skin of Sorrow).
Nnenna has received over thirty honors and awards including seven Grammys, The “Jazz Masters Award” from Women In Jazz, The “Eubie Blake” Award and The “Billie Holiday Award” from Academy du Jazz (France). She has been on TV specials more than a dozen times, multiple NPR specials, toured with The Count Basie Orchestra and appeared at Carnegie Hall with The Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra. She has recorded for Columbia, Concord and Origin record labels, her latest release featuring Alan Pasqua and Keith Ganz.
Collected Works Books will be on hand with copies of Nnenna’s book “Beneath The Skin of Sorrow” with autographed copies available.
Doors open at 5:30 pm for dinner, wine and craft cocktails. Showtime is 7:00 pm.
