“A Nat Cole Christmas”
The Spirit of the Holidays with Horace Alexander Young
Musical charisma is what describes why the room lights up when Horace Alexander Young takes the stage. A master musician with an ability to connect with his audience like the greats of yesteryear;
Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole, and Sammy Davis Jr.
He plays saxophone, sings, arranges and composes, much of which can be heard on recordings with The Brubeck Brothers, Abdullah Ibrahim and many more. His saxophone flute, and vocal skills have thrilled audiences from twenty countries across five continents at major jazz festivals from Houston to Tokyo and beyond. In addition, Horace spent seventeen years as musical director and featured soloist with NEA Master Abdullah Ibrahim, the foremost ambassador of South African jazz.
For this special concert, the former music chair of Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s contemporary music department will be bringing in the holiday spirit with the voice that once was the great Nat Cole. Year after year at holiday season, when Nat Cole took to the stage, we all knew it was time to lite up the tree, build a barn fire and get those chestnuts a roasting.
You will want to be part of the mesmerized audience that will bring head first into the spirit of the holidays.
For this concert, Horace Alexander Young will be accompanied by Bob Fox – Piano, Gordon Johnson – Bass, and John Trentacosta – Drums.
