The concerts for the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble’s 45th season treat audiences to “Music Above and Beyond.” The exciting repertory calls us to look skyward for inspiration from the stars, the moon and the sun, and to look inside ourselves to see new possibilities and dreams about how our world can change. They will sing music that both stirs and calms, moving us forward with courage and joy.
The selections for their winter concerts, entitled “Music Above and Beyond for Winter,” range from Kim Baryluk’s “Solstice Carole,” an invitation to experience the spirit of the winter solstice; to an exuberant horseback jaunt in “A Winter Ride” by Joan Szymko; followed by a sacred tribute to Chanukah in “Eight Days of Light” by Judith Clurman and David Chase; and through many more uplifting pieces, closing with “Hodie Christus Natus Est” by Kelly-Marie Murphy, where angels exclaim “Glory to God in the highest. Alleluia!" This wondrous musical exploration will take you outside yourselves to an optimistic and more peaceful plane.
Dave Anderson, woodwinds, and Bill Epstein, piano, join the Women’s Ensemble for an elevating and heart-warming musical experience.
Concerts are at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday December 13 and Sunday December 14, both at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $30 in advance at www.sfwe.org, $35 at the door if available. Tickets for students and teachers, military and veterans are $12.
