Beginning his musical journey on the ukulele before turning to guitar, he trained with renowned institutions including The Colburn School, the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center, and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. His artistry has led him to perform at celebrated venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, Catalina Jazz Club, and The Mint, while sharing the stage with acclaimed musicians including Paul Cornish, Gretchen Parlato, and Keith David.A recipient of numerous honors from organizations including DownBeat Magazine, YoungArts, and the Music Center Spotlight Awards, Joaquin continued his musical education at Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship. Today, he performs internationally as a member of the orchestra aboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, bringing his musicianship to audiences around the world.For this special ArtWalk performance, Joaquin returns home to Southern California to present an evening of expressive, contemporary jazz alongside an outstanding ensemble.
