Join us for our latest Open Mic W/O a Mic Poetry Night at The Printed Garden! We'll have 3-4 headlining poets who will each be reading their newest work for about 15-20 minutes, followed by an open stage where we'll invite anyone in attendance to read, either original work or a favorite poem from someone else!
About Reggie O.'s Conversations with Myself:
this collection is arranged mostly in chronological order. This compilation starts around 2020 as a 36-year-old woman trying to make sense of the world around me and the ever evolving chaos, hence the title of this book — It s quite literally from conversations with myself and my observations. Throughout the editing process, some poems were combined to deepen their impact and cohesion. Much like before, my hope with this book is simple yet profound: to remind you that you are never truly alone. You don’t have to walk through the darkness by yourself. If you find yourself feeling alone, I hope these words can gently hold your hand — through the shadows and into the light. Because experiencing the light the world has to offer is something we all need to share with someone as well. My hope is for these words to give you strength and inspire you!
About Michael Shoemaker's Sacred Strains of Praise:
In this busy, fast-paced, complex, and oftentimes troubled existence, our experiences can make us cynical, discouraged, and even unbelieving, making it easy for our connection with God and His Son, Jesus Christ to wane. Sacred Strains of Praise is a collection of spiritual poetry and beautiful photography that not only helps the reader find or restore our association with God and yoke us with Christ, but through reading examples of how others glorify God and praise Jesus, we too will find the desire to worship the divine. Indeed, this collection contains the stories, psalms, and celebrations of our lives that honor God and reverence Jesus. Join the authors, Michael Parker and Michael Shoemaker, on an odyssey as they search for God, dictate the experiences of life's journey, and discover Jesus through personal and others' spiritual experiences. Within these pages, you will find yourselves transported, touched, enriched, and inspired.
About Lorraine Jeffery's Saltwater Soul:
“Here, I search for agates’ ocher transparency / glittering among broken shells / and pewter pebbles, / when I walk wind-blasted red rocks home”: the speaker of the poems in Saltwater Soul lives in the liminal space between homes, between a beloved watery Pacific coast and an abrasive dry Great Basin west. The poems in this collection startle and dazzle, weaving family stories, landscapes, small resistances and wide-open immersions with great formal variety and a wealth of visual particulars. Of an osprey: “A shiny black gargoyle, of parts / and angles, as if he were built / from an Erector set.” These are poems to help a reader navigate a beautiful burning world—tactile, dream, talismanic.
This event is free, open to the public, and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
