Sandy Spring Museum turns up the volume with the Songwriter’s Showcase, an exciting live music series spotlighting original talent from Montgomery County and the surrounding region. Each performance will feature a fresh lineup of local musicians, offering audiences the chance to experience homegrown music in an intimate, one-of-a-kind setting. Join us and discover your next favorite local artist! 

June lineup: 

& Maddie is a singer songwriter from the Silver Spring, Maryland area. She grew up with musical influence from her dad, a jazz trombonist, as well as a variety of genres and artists. Maddie describes her style as alternative, indie, and sometimes a bit of folk! Maddie also plays with a band by the name of Spaghetti Murphy. She is musically inspired by any and all things that give our lives emotion. 

- Ed Fatula (of Mashing Covers) has spent 30 years performing everywhere from morning radio to major club stages. As an original music artist, Ed brings an acoustic rock energy that’s meant to be experienced live, in the moment. You won’t find his songs on any streaming service. His performances blend raw musicianship, dynamic vocals, and the spirit of rock in an intimate acoustic setting. 

- Selena Raj is a Punjabi-American singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and performer from Clarksburg, Maryland. Selena writes about mental health, all types of relationships, and the stuff in the newspapers. Her voice is often described as rich, smoky, and powerful. Selena is grateful to not only have her solo act but to also be a vocalist in several live duo acts and bands that perform in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Check out her latest release, The River, The Wine, wherever you stream music. 

- Juels Bland is an award winning songwriter (MASC) based out of Silver Spring MD. His music blends an eclectic mix of folk, Americana, jazz, rock, and blues with insightful/inciteful lyrics (depends on who you ask) and evocative vocals addressing subjects you might expect (love, loss, politics) and ones that might surprise you (murder, time travel). Juels has released two albums: Feeling Blue, Seeing Red (2014), Something to Run (2018) and is currently recording his next project: a musical. 

- Rebecca Berlin fuses the storytelling of folk with jazzy chords, unique lyric and song structures, and elements of musical theater. Imagine the voice of Sara Bareilles mixed with the honesty of Joni Mitchell and the poetic lyricism of Ani DiFranco. Honest, raw, and pleasantly quirky, she is known for vulnerable storytelling and a voice that cuts through the noise. Her latest album “Questions & Answers” was released in May 2026.   

Songwriter’s Showcase is a monthly event series running from April till September, hosted by local singer/songwriter Frank Letkiewicz. Light refreshments will be served. 

This event takes place at Willow Grove Cultural Commons. Willow Grove is part of the Sandy Spring Museum's main building, but has its own entrance. From the parking lot, proceed past the museum's front door down the cement walkway until you reach the red stone plaza.
