Duration 3.5 hours.About this EventRIVERSIDE AND SAND DUNES, SANDWICHStarting at Sandwich railway station, we’ll walk through the historic town to visit St. Clement’s Mediaeval church before we follow the pathway next to the River Stour where we’ll will stop to look at plants, wildlife and landscape as we walk towards the coast, crossing over fields and footpaths across golf courses. At the beach, we’ll look at the sand and shingle flowers, insects and birds and have our packed lunch. We’ll hear about the local landscape before we return via other footpaths across golf courses and pass the Royal St. George’s Golf Club seeing birds and insects on the way. We’ll return via fields, hedgerows and wooded footpaths until we get back into Sandwich.Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinking water. There is little shade on this walk. There is little shade so do come prepared with a sun hat.What you need to bring with youPlease wear suitable boots or shoes with good grip. Walking poles may be helpful.Bring waterproof clothing if rain is forecast. Bring a sun hat, sun lotion and plenty to drink in hot and sunny weather.
