- **Event Description**: Join us for a community potluck and celebration of our ancestors for Dia de los Muertos. 

"Dia de los Muertos" or "Day of the Dead" is a two day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (Offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite foods and drinks of the one being honored. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations!

Day of the Dead is a rare holiday for celebrating death and life. It is unlike any holiday where mourning is exchanged for celebration.

Misty will help guide us through creating a sacred community altar or Ofrenda. We'll share a meal that consists of our favorite family foods while we share stories about our loved ones and dance to music they loved.  

What to bring:
-Send us a song that reminds you of your ancestors 
-Photos of your loved ones that have crossed over (traditionally photos of the living are not placed on the ofrenda)
-Potluck food item of your ancestors favorite foods, a meal that was always served at family gatherings or just any food or snack of your choice. (No pressure here)
- A journal to take notes and reflect.
-a flashlight (your phone works just fine) to navigate the trail to the dome in the dark.

What to wear:
Something you are comfortable to sit and move in. Feel free to go all out and wear your best Dia de los Muertos attire if you so choose!

This event will be hosted in the Dome at Three Ponds Community. A small hike is required to get to the dome. We have pillows and blankets to sit on. Please bring whatever else you need to feel comfortable. 

This event is donation based.

Misty and Hailey are two certified death doulas through the Anam Cara Acadamy. They had the privilege of celebrating Dia de los Muertos in Mexico and are excited to share some of the magic of this sacred holiday with you.
