Right now, less than 1% of our $161 million general fund goes to basic social services like rental assistance, senior care, mental health, or childcare. But we know: Budgets are moral documents.

That’s why we’re calling on Hays County to fund:

--$10M+ for the Public Defender’s Office — to ensure justice for all, not just those who can afford it
--$1M+ for Community Re-entry Services — peer-led support for people returning home
--$2M+ in Rental Assistance — stable housing is public safety
--$2M+ for Workforce Development — job training & wraparound support
--$5M+ for General Social Services — including food, transportation, childcare, youth programs, senior and disability care, and survivor support
