This course uses the Significant Changes to International Residential Code 2024 Edition as its basis. The goal of the 2024 Edition is to familiarize building officials, fire officials, plans examiners, inspectors, design professionals, contractors, and others in the construction industry with many of the important changes in the 2024 International Residential Code. This class is designed to assist those code users in identifying the specific code changes that have occurred and understanding the reasons behind the change.Course ObjectivesIdentify the most significant differences between the 2021 IRC and the 2024 IRC.Explain the differences between the current and previous edition.Identify key changes in organization and code requirements.Identify the applicability of design, plan review and inspection requirements.LEGAL ASPECTS OF CODE ADMINISTRATIONDescriptionProvides code officials with guidelines for administering the legal aspects of codes with regard to enforcement, prosecution and maintenance. In this course participants will discuss historical consequences of ignoring the regulation of building construction and materials, and learn how to interpret and applying local government, state and federal legislative laws, pertaining to the administration and enforcement of a building code. Participants will also be able to define and apply concepts which are legally important to the administration and enforcement of a building code and establish or document rules of procedure used before a board of building code appeals.
