- **Event Description**: 50501 San Jose peaceful protests will be held on Friday 7/4 and Thursday 7/17 at 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. in Cesar Chavez Park.

The 7/17 "Good Trouble" event is cosponsored by Indivisible San Jose and is named in honor of civil rights leader John Lewis who called for Americans to to “Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” The July 17th event will again feature invited and crowd speakers and a march.

50501 San Jose is seeking volunteers to help ensure crowd safety at both events. Adults are needed to act as crossing guards at crosswalks during the marches. Seeking to enlarge its base of trained de-escalation volunteers, 50501 San Jose also announced it will reimburse the cost of online crowd manager training at CrowdManagers.com for adults who commit in advance to be peace ambassadors at either event, show up with their receipt and certificate for completing the $24.95 online training, and act as peace ambassadors for the duration of either event. Adults interested in either role should email sanjose@50501.ca to volunteer.

Attendees are asked to bring their own food and water, hat, sunscreen, and signs and to carpool or use mass transportation wherever possible. Cesar Chavez Park is a 22 minute walk from San Jose Diridon Station. The nearest VTA light rail stops are Children’s Discovery Museum Station on the Blue Line and Convention Center Station on the Blue and Green lines. Parking is available on street and at the following nearby parking garages:
First Street &amp; I-280 Lots, 401 S 1st St, 4 blocks from park, free on July 4th
Convention Center Garage, 150 W San Carlos St., 2-3 blocks from the park
Children’s Discovery Museum Garage, 180 Woz Way, 1 block
Fourth Street Garage, 44 S 4th St, 3-4 blocks
50501 San Jose remains committed to non-violence.

50501 is a peaceful movement dedicated to positive change through nonviolent action. We are proud to create a space where everyone can feel safe to be seen standing up for their values and have their voices heard. This includes families with small children, people with disabilities, the elderly, LGBTQ+ communities, and people of color.

To be clear: Weapons are not permitted at any of our events. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence, threats of violence, or the suggestion of using weapons, or property damage in connection with our movement. Our mission is rooted in peaceful advocacy, and we will not allow actions that endanger protestors, bystanders, law enforcement, counter-protestors, journalists, or any other members of the public that may be present at our event.

In all of our events, we have worked in accordance with local law as it pertains to local gatherings and protesting. Please do not confront counterprotestors, agitators, or law enforcement. It is important to ignore baiting attempts and walk away. If asked to disperse by law enforcement, please do.

We urge everyone to remain peaceful, and committed to the principles of nonviolent action. 50501 stands for justice, progress, and the power of the people — peacefully. Let’s keep this movement safe and fun for everyone.
