Even as we become more experienced it may feel like we have to do or be something noteworthy or entertaining. A concept that I have found quite freeing lately is that all I need is to be ordinary and specific. In this two day intensive we’ll focus on being “Ordinary” on Saturday and “Specific” on Sunday. Sign up for either or both!Ordinary (Saturday November 21 10am-5pm)We will celebrate the very ordinary choices our brains make; every time we pour a cup of coffee or call someone “Bob” or set a scene in a living room or a restaurant, let’s delight in it! We’ll also be actively exploring what “ordinary” means. One player’s ordinary offer may seem extraordinary to another player (and that’s great!).Specific (Sunday November 22 10am-5pm)There’s no better way to accept ordinary offers than to make them more specific. How old is that guy named Bob? What kind of cuisine do they serve in that restaurant? What do you put in your coffee? Specificity brings the mundane to life and invites our imagination to really see and experience the ordinary things we have brought into the scene.We have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Agreement/acceptance of these policies is required to participate in BATS classes. If you’re unable to attend class, please notify BATS Improv before the class begins to receive credit toward a different class.
