Spotlight instructor Alek Hernandez studied modern dance techniques at the University of South Florida and brings a strong emphasis on using body weight to support balance, strength, and dynamic movement. The class will include center floor warmups, floor work, and a short, choreographed phrase that will be recorded in small groups. Students will leave with a stronger understanding of weight placement and how to use it to enhance performance quality, balance, and clarity in directional and level changes.Genre Description:Contemporary Jazz is a dance form rooted from Africa that shares movement characteristics with classical ballet, modern dance and contemporary influences, and traditional jazz. This class starts with a full body warm up, core activation, across the floor, an int/adv class combo with an emphasis on personal expression and technique. This class will focus on a more enhanced routine with a chance for more performative jumps and turns to highlight skills, movement, and musicality.Suggested Wardrobe:Loose fitting pants or shorts, comfortable t-shirts or tank tops with a sports bra. Bare feet or socks.Registration is required for this event. Please note that all sales for specialty classes are final.
