Purimpalooza

Get ready to celebrate Purim with the JCCSF, Congregation Emanu-El, artists, musicians, and local community partners! Step into a high-energy world where ancient bravery meets modern pop spectacle for an unforgettable celebration of courage, community, and joy.

New this year, choose from two shpiel viewing experiences:

• Main Stage Experience: General seating. First come, first served. (Shpiel Performance Tickets Required)
• Livestream in Fisher Family Hall: Relaxed community lounge viewing experience for families with little ones or anyone who wants extra room to move. (No Shpiel Performance Tickets Required)

10:00 am – Noon: Purimpalooza Festival
Experience the traditions and story of Purim through crafts, games, hands-on activities, creating mishloach manot (Purim baskets), and more. Be wowed by magic, show off your Purim look at the photo booth, enjoy the outdoor playground, decorate a hamantaschen, and dance along to live music by Jonathan Bayer.
Costumes encouraged, smiles required!

10:30 am: Nosh & Learn
An adults-only space to explore Purim traditions and ancient stories with Jewish educators.

11:00 am: Shushan Get Down
A special dance party for kids ages 6 and younger (and their grown-ups and siblings) to jump, groove, and move to live music Melita Silberstein & Friends.

Need a more mellow experience? Stop by Esther’s Oasis to recharge in a quiet, calm and low sensory space.

12:15 – 1:00 pm: Jpop Haman Hunters Purim Shpiel (Main Stage or Livestream)

Welcome to Shushan like you’ve never seen it before — where Esther and her crew take center stage as fearless, high-glam heroes on a mission to defeat Haman once and for all. In this Kpop-inspired Purim shpiel, Congregation Emanu-El’s talented community brings the story to life through electrifying performances, bold choreography, and pop anthems that celebrate courage, unity, and standing up to injustice. Expect fierce looks, infectious hooks, groggers galore, and a story that reminds us all: when we band together, even the biggest villains don’t stand a chance.

High energy. High drama. Heroic vibes only.

Hamantaschen included. Additional food available for purchase.

Parking is limited. Please consider arriving by foot, bike or public transportation. There is secure bike parking.

Children must be accompanied by adults to attend.
