But without insider knowledge, many residents of the Bay Area might not be aware of the access they have to "the scene"--a comedy environment that, like most San Francisco ventures, encourages bold new approaches to the art form.Join KALW and representatives from the worlds of Bay Area sketch (Killing My Lobster), improv (BATS Improv, Endgames Improv), and stand-up (Jackie Keliiaa, Good Medicine Comedy; Tirumari Jothi, Critical Hit Comedy) for a deeper dive into the ins and outs of Bay Area comedy across its various forms. A Bay Area native, she holds a B.A. in Drama from SFSU and completed the Conservatory program at Second City Hollywood. She is a regular theatre actor in the Bay Area, a member of the faculty at Leela Improv Theatre, and has performed with Drunk Theatre since 2024. Her operatic improv group, La Spazzatura, has appeared in numerous comedy festivals, including Out of Bounds Improv Festival in Austin and SF Sketchfest. Trained at Endgames, iO Chicago, Second City, and UCB, he has spent 13 years performing in the long-running improv show "Your F'd Up Relationship" and recently in "The Ritual." You can find her in the book, We Had a Little Real Estate Problem: The Unheralded Story of Native Americans & Comedy. She co-wrote and executive produced an Untitled NBC comedy pilot set at a Native community center in Oakland. She has been featured on Comedy Central, Team Coco, the First Nations Comedy Experience streaming on Amazon Prime, and voices the character Bubble on Netflix’s “Spirit Rangers.” Jackie wrote for the web series You're Welcome America and has been featured in a variety of publications including Vulture, Uproxx, LA Times and KQED among others. Jackie produces Good Medicine Comedy, an all-Native comedy show which has sold out venues in the Bay Area and beyond. You can find him in Oakland running his weekly Saturday standup showcase Critical Hit, at home drawing goofy cartoons, or online playing competitive videogames where he loses to children.
