Live Cactus Grafting Demo at the SF Succulent Expo

Maybe you’ve seen grafted cacti in the store or have some in your collection, but have you ever wondered how it works? We are delighted to have a special demo at our show and sale presented by master grafter Andrew Hazlett.

Cactus grafting is used to join the rooted stem of one cactus to a surgically cut piece of another cactus, often to make the top part, or scion, grow faster. Andrew will show us the basic techniques for successful grafting, including the tools, root stock and scions needed. The basic process is easier than you think! The second half of the presentation will dive into advanced techniques that push the limits on grafting rare cacti for propagation or art. We will push the limits of what is possible!

Andrew Hazlett is the president of the Cactus and Succulent Society of San Jose, and the proprietor of JunesCactus on the Palmstreet.app.
