Learn basic repair skills such as resizing, cleaning, polishing, and fixing/replacing clasps, chains, and earring backs. Tools, jewelry, and materials will be provided, but bring any jewelry or accessories you want to repair or turn into something new! Ticket CostPlease note we have a sliding scale for tickets for this event! Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.About the ArtistVega Vosbek (she/her) is a transdisciplinary creator, educator, and organizer based in Huichin (Oakland, CA). She received a BA in Cognitive Science and Education from UC Berkeley in 2020 and worked as a public school teacher before dedicating herself to art. Vega primarily works in jewelry and metal arts, but enjoys combining diverse mediums including textiles, clay, light, sound, and water into deeply elemental creations. She creates from a place of ritual, imagining spaces between antiquity and futurism that call for us to remember our connection to the natural world. Since beginning her first jewelry brand JEMINIII in 2023, Vega has sold hundreds of unique adornments, displayed metalwork in shows across the country, produced art events centering queer/trans expression, and is currently teaching jewelry courses at Studio One, Oakland.About SCRAPWe at SCRAP breathe new life into old arts & crafts supplies and reduce waste by diverting over 200 tons of materials heading to landfill every year.
