He is an author and speaker whose work investigates the underlying causes of our civilization’s existential crisis, and explores pathways toward a life-affirming future. His award-winning book, The Patterning Instinct: A Cultural History of Humanity’s Search for Meaning, examines the way humans have made meaning from the cosmos from hunter-gatherer times to the present day.His more recent award-winning The Web of Meaning: Integrating Science and Traditional Wisdom to Find Our Place in the Universe offers a solid foundation for an integrative worldview that could lead humanity to a sustainable, flourishing future.Tonight we will focus on Jeremy's newest and perhaps most compelling book, Ecocivilization is the result of five years of research and writing. It lays out the potential for a fundamentally different world system—an ecocivilization based on life-affirming principles rather than principles of extraction, exploitation, and wealth accumulation. The book illustrates an alternative, positive future that's available for humanity to pursue right now, illustrating how every aspect of our world system could be redesigned as a coherent whole, setting the conditions for all people to flourish on a regenerated Earth. What are humanity's first best steps in establishing the root causes of such a transformation?Where are the shoots of our Ecocivilization already present and how is the Ecociv Coalition working to augment these systems changes and network this growing movement into an archipelago in service to all life? How can each of us play our part in catalyzing this transformation?Tonight we'll discuss these and many other vital questions.A portion of tonight's proceeds will be donated to support the. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/70611120-a429-11f1-9988-bfc638c33a5a-rimg-w787-h740-dc080808-gmir.jpg OUR CHEF:Chef Azalina Eusope is a Malaysian born chef and the founder of Azalina’s in San Francisco.Raised in Penang, she grew up cooking alongside her mother, father and grandmother, learning recipes shaped by Malaysia’s Malay, Indian, and Chinese influences. "description": "\r\n\r\n\r\n“We would like to build a future that works for everyone, where biodiversity is rebounding, where people see their role as magnanimous stewards of wealth, not just looking for ways to indulge.”\r\nFor the last eighteen years, Raman Frey has started businesses with friends and served as an advisor or board member at a variety of organizations, including YBCA, Epicenter Arts and a host of tech startups. As an event producer, public speaker, moderator and interviewer, Raman thrives off improvisation. He loves real civil discourse amongst people with opposing points of view.\r\nRaman was a founding partner of The Bureau, a benefit corporation, advisory and startup accelerator operating at the intersection of blockchain technologies and ESG (environmental, social and governance) impact.\r\nIn January, 2019, Raman took one month alone in a yurt near Yosemite to write the first draft of his book manuscript, tentatively titled Mount Commerce: Beginnings of Incentive System Design. Incentive System Design is thinking differently and comprehensively about how we shape our own and one anothers’ behaviors and designing systems that guide those behaviors in desired directions, particularly our choices as participants in an economy.  ISD seeks to propagate greater human equality, restrained production and consumption, regeneration and equilibrium in natural systems at scale.  \r\nRaman is also the founder of Good People Dinners, a Bay Area community focused on meaningful conversations, usually over food and drink. These dinners, corporate salons, overnights and retreats bring together professional chefs and fascinating speakers on a wide range of topics. GP Dinners has operated for 7 years, producing over 200 events and counting.\r\nAH Global, an agency offering its clients comprehensive online conversation marketing campaigns, recently made Raman a partner, overseeing social media influencer outreach.\r\nHis writing has appeared in the Harvard Business Review and other publications. He often posts essays and interviews to Medium. On a recent episode of What Comes Now, Raman discussed blockchain and community building with host Rosie von Lila. On the Wisdom Labs podcast Wise@Work, he discusses the idea of a do no harm ethos for entrepreneurs and many of the ideas from his forthcoming book. \r\nRaman loves time in nature, mountaineering and scuba diving. He’s an amateur chef who hosts dinners for friends at his home as often as possible.\r\n\r\n\r\n"
