His standing night at Biscuits & Blues grew out of ZinggFlower, a tribute band for guitarist Drew Zingg, the Steely Dan music director and Boz Scaggs sideman who died in San Francisco in April 2025. Gamper holds that group down alongside vibraphonist Michael Emenau, bassist Sascha Jacobsen, Ben Misterka and Chili Corder.FunkJazz is the other face of the residency, a groove night built around the songbooks of Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Freddie Hubbard, with San Francisco pianist Grant Levin in the band. Gamper does not play a tribute like a museum piece; he plays it like the guy who still has to make the room dance.
