She's been covering the arts in the Bay Area for over a decade, with a focus on music, queer culture, labor issues and grassroots organizing. She has edited KQED story series such as Trans Bay: A History of San Francisco's Gender-Diverse Community, and co-created KQED's Bay Area hip-hop history project, That's My Word. She regularly appears on podcasts and radio programs, including NPR’s All Songs Considered, and hosts live events where music, culture and conversation meet. He has been writing about music for over 25 years, and since 2013, he has organized over 100 gatherings dedicated to left-field electronic music. His writing has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, KQED, SF Weekly, Resident Advisor, FACT Magazine, XLR8R, and beyond, with recent essays in the electronic music anthologies No Tags Vol. 1 and Writing on Raving. He writes the music column, "Sound Ward", for the Bay Area Current that explores the intersections of labor, music, and Bay Area politics. He is the recipient of the Jubilee Fellowship at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism and was in the first graduating cohort of the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies program at UC Santa Cruz. His piece on death and heavy music is a finalist for the 2025 Student Media Production Awards.
