Anselm Ramelow O.P., professor of Philosophy and Aesthetics at the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology.With the advent of AI and large language models, computers produce artifacts that are impressive in their speed and resemblance to human artistic productions. But are computers actually generating true art? This lecture will explore and articulate this contemporary issue facing our culture today, as well as the challenges and questions it poses for today’s creatives.SF Art Forum values bringing vigor to philosophy and theology through the arts. Please come and join our thriving community of artists, theologians, philosophers and art enthusiasts.Fr. Anselm Ramelow is a professor of philosophy at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley. He also taught at the University of San Francisco and the Munich School of Philosophy and is a Senior Fellow at the Berkeley Institute and the Zephyr Institute. He obtained his doctorate under Robert Spaemann in Munich on Leibniz and the Spanish Jesuits (Gott, Freiheit, Weltenwahl, 1997) and did theological work on George Lindbeck and the question of a Thomist philosophy and theology of language (Beyond Modernism? – George Lindbeck and the Linguistic Turn in Theology, 2005). He contributed articles to the Historisches Wörterbuch der Philosophie and essays on topics at the intersection of philosophy and theology, as well as a translation and commentary on part of Aquinas’ De veritate. He continues to work on questions of free will, philosophy of religion (including miracles, existence, and the nature of God), and philosophical aesthetics.RSVP recommended.
