- **Event Description**: Please join us at 2pm on Sunday, February 22nd for a Nature Walk with our friends at the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists!

In the early 1820s, Stephen F. Austin was scouting a location to become the capital of his colony in Mexican Texas. Join us as we explore the reasons behind Austin choosing this area of the Brazos Valley, how natural landscape of the area benefited locals, and native flowers in bloom.

Please note this tour will include long periods of standing and walking (approximately 45 minutes) and include walking on gravel, grass, and uneven terrain. Visitors should meet in the lobby of the museum at 220 2nd Street. We hope to see you February 22nd!
