- **Event Description**: The Role of Creativity in HealingAbout this EventAbout the EventThis CE presentation, The Role of Creativity in Healing, will provide a glimpse into the Prinzhorn Collection and investigate historical precedents for the use of art/creativity in healing. It will present creative interventions related to mindfulness and grounding, emotions and emotional regulation, memory, and intuition, as well as touching on basic art/creativity interventions and various material choices for use in individual/group sessions.You Will Learn ToDefine historical artworks contained in the Prinzhorn Collection.Recognize early Art Therapy practitioners and their unique contributions.Recognize creative interventions that lend themselves to emotional and nervous system regulation.Describe the use of various materials as they relate to creative interventions.Note: This training complements existing crisis protocols and ethical standards—it does not replace them.In-person event for 1 CE credit.There is free underground parking on-site. Please do not park in the in the spots dedicate to Rady Children's Hospital. Please use the elevator at the north end of the parking garage and take elevator to 2.About the SpeakerIngrid Psuty, MFA, CADC-II LADC studied visual art, Jewelry and Metalsmithing, receiving her BFA from Edinboro University in 1997 and her MFA from San Diego State University in 2001. She began her career teaching Jewelry and Metalsmithing, Design and Color Theory, and Art History at local San Diego colleges and universities, as well as in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.Ingrid came into counseling after 17 years of teaching, receiving her Drug and Alcohol Counseling certification from the University of California San Diego in 2015. She began her career in counseling working with homeless veterans and active-duty military members before joining the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in 2022. She has worked at both the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Center City, Minnesota and the Betty Ford Center in San Diego. She currently facilitates a hybrid Intensive Outpatient group at the Betty Ford Center in San Diego.Ingrid’s passion and interests lie in nurturing the growth and transformation of patients throughout their early recovery journey, utilizing education, group process, and basic creative interventions as guiding principles in her work. She has maintained a private studio since 2001, creating and exhibiting jewelry in silver, gold, and related materials. She believes in the relevance, importance, and power of art and creativity in the healing process of patients with substance use and co-occurring disorders.About the San Diego Behavioral Health CE SeriesJoin us in person every second Friday of the month for a dynamic morning of learning and connection.
