Botany Bash: A Pop-Up Talk for Plant Lovers

Join us for the exciting launch of a new book, Ferns and Lycophytes of San Diego County, with a free, pop-up talk and book signing by Curator of Botany Dr. Jon Rebman, taking place during Nat at Night.

This new publication builds on information from a previous version, and it has been finally updated after 52 years! It has photos of every fern and lycophyte in the county and up-to-date information on each plant’s status. The book is co-authored by Dr. Jon Rebman and Annette L. Winner and will be available for purchase at Gold Leaf, the museum store.

How many ferns are in San Diego County? What is a lycophyte? How important is our fern diversity as compared to the rest of California? These intriguing topics and more will be explored, revealing the rich biodiversity that surrounds us, from common species to rare gems.

Admission to the talk is included in Nat at Night admission. Doors open for Nat at Night at 5 PM. Theater doors open for the talk at 5:30 PM.
