Nature stone is durable and can be used in many applications. This short talk will be an overview of stone in patios, paths, water features and as focal points. Additionally, it will cover some basic drainage and grading considerations, along with degrees of difficulty of installation and some considerations before undertaking your project. Jim Link has been a landscape contractor in the Bay Area for more than 30 years. He got his start mowing lawns as a teenager, later joining the California Conservation Corps where he raised an organic garden, built trails and fought wild land fires for two seasons. Jim went on to receive his BS from UC Berkeley, 1986, in Conservation and Resource Studies. Between college and graduate school, Jim worked as a site supervisor with the San Francisco Conservation Corps and as a park ranger with the East Bay Regional Park District. Jim received his master’s degree from the Department of Landscape Architecture, also at UC Berkeley.
