On behalf of Children's Network and First 5 San Bernardino through the Inland Empire Father Involvement Coalition (IEFIC), we invite you to this year's Fatherhood Summit! The Inland Empire Fatherhood Summit celebrates fatherhood in effort to highlight fatherhood awareness and fatherhood well-being as proclaimed by our San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. The Summit also aims to inspire, educate, and equip fathers and father-figures to be actively engaged in their children's lives. The Summit is an opportunity to connect fathers and families to the pipeline to success by sharing resources needed plus there will also be opportunity drawings.
Fathers who are engaged and present make a real difference in their children’s lives. Children who are raised by involved fathers are “60% less likely to be suspended or expelled from school, 2 times as likely to go to college and find stable employment after high school, 75% less likely to have a teen birth, and 80% less likely to spend time in J*il” (Child and Family Partnership, 2017). Fathers who are present in their children’s lives are capable caretakers of their young toddlers who support the development of their children, collaborate in their partner’s positive parenting efforts, add to the overall health and wellness of the family, and experience beneficial improvements in their developments and life (Head Start Early Childhood Learning & Knowledge Center, n.d.). Fathers are irreplaceable!
