The family of Mr. Xavier Martinez, a US Coast Guard (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Xavier Martinez, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, on February 24, 2026, at the age of 63. He was born on November 26, 1962, at Wilford Hall at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Growing up in San Antonio, Xavier attended John Jay High School. After graduating, he dedicated over two decades of his life to serving his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard in the communications department that including time on two ships: USCGC Hamilton WHEC 715 out of Long Beach, California, and USCGC Tampa WMEC 902 out of Portsmouth, Virgina. His commitment to service continued after his military career, as he joined the Northside Independent School District as a Police Communications Dispatcher, a role he held for twenty years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father Jesus Martinez and survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Angela W. Martinez, and their two children, Antonio and Alicia Martinez, his mother, Thelma C. Martinez, and sisters Zelma M. Garza and Yvonne Martinez. His nephews, Ronald J. Garza Jr. and Rene J. Garza, his niece, Anissa M. Garza, and his mother-in-law, Gloria F. At NSGA Northwest Chapel in Chesapeake, VA and St. Rose of Lima in San Antonio, TX he served as a CCD teacher, lecturer and eucharistic minister, trained altar servers, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 38 years. He had many interests. He was a passionate supporter of both Texas high school and college football; his favorite teams being the John Jay High School Mustangs and the UTSA Roadrunners.

He was also a longtime fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Rams. He loved watching boxing, the news, and Hallmark Channel. Some of his favorite bands were Rush and Queen and enjoyed listening to Norah Jones. Some of his favorite tv shows included Star Trek, MASH, The Nanny, and the Big Bang Theory. He was passionate about all kinds of history, to include his family history and learning all he could about Texas and American history. He loved spending time in bookstores like Barnes and Noble, Half Price books or Catholic bookstores.
