It’s that time of year again — when data nerds trade dashboards for eggnog and pull requests for peppermint mochas.

Join SATX Datanauts for our Holiday Bash on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 PM at The Hoppy Monk patio.

We’re closing out the year Datanauts-style: a mix of ugly sweaters, book swapping, raffle prizes, and a little too much laughter. Expect cozy chaos, holiday cheer, and conversations you actually want to have.

We’re bringing some festive data magic to the patio:

📚 The Great Book Swap

Bring 1–3 computer, data, or tech-related books to swap or gift. Tag them with a Post-it — your name, title, and why it’s worth reading. Think “Secret Santa,” but for people who know what Jupyter Notebook or Power BI are.

🎄 Ugly Sweater Showdown

• The rules are simple: the uglier, the better.
• Bonus points for blinking LEDs, Santa SQL queries, or data puns.
• Prizes for Most Hideous, Most Technical, and Most Festive Nerd Pun.

🎲 Nerd Trivia + Festive Raffles

A few quick rounds of trivia — from Python quirks to AI history — with prizes that would make any geek’s stocking proud: notebooks, stickers, and actual computer books.

🕔 Schedule

5:00 PM — Setup & early arrivals (help us deck the tables)
5:30 PM — Check-in + book swap opens
6:15 PM — Sweater showdown + photos
7:00 PM — Raffle + group photo
7:30 PM — Wrap-up + optional after-hang

🎁 What to Bring

• 1–3 books to trade or gift
• Your ugliest holiday sweater
• A friend (or three — it’s the holidays!)

Optional: stickers, small gifts, or snacks to share

And of course... your holiday spirit

We’ll be out on the patio of The Hoppy Monk, surrounded by lights, laughter, and maybe one or two regrettable sweaters.

Food and drinks are available for purchase — no cover charge.
