American Harmony is a concert journey through America’s musical evolution—from its African and European roots, through the immigrant experiences of the 20th century, to the vibrant, living traditions of jazz and Latin jazz.
This story unfolds in a rich program:
Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town captures the energy and optimism of mid-century America, Daniel Freiberg’s Crónicas Latinoamericanas infuses the evening with Latin jazz flair and rhythmic vitality, and Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony reflects the immigrant experience that helped shape the American sound. Together, these works remind us that the essence of American music is its power to bring cultures together and inspire us to move forward as one.
The Orchestra San Antonio welcomes back world-renowned trumpet star Pacho Flores to San Antonio, bringing his virtuosity and unmistakable voice to the stage for a vibrant "American Harmony" evening.
