2023 EARTH DAY FESTIVAL PAGE :

Bring your popup tent, lawn chair, blanket, picnic/outdoor supplies and refreshments. The grounds will be open all day, but the show starts at 3pm for a sweet afternoon of great live artists in the Huntsville Woods on Earth Day, April 21, 2024, from 3-8pm.

Price: Free Public AdmissionLive Entertainment Bands and Storytellers. Specialty Vendors, Food Trucks and local food booths will be available. Vendors, Donations and sponsorships welcomed.

A free spring afternoon concert... featuring Motown, Jazz, Blues, Vaudeville and Country music. Return to the roots of great musicans on the grounds of Huntsville’s historic Rosenwald School. LOCATION: Just 3 miles north of the new Huntsville Police station at 639 Rosenwall Rd., Huntsville Texas, 77340.

This spring afternoon celebration on historic land will offer vendors, food trucks, artisans and (if there is no county-wide fire-ban") the night before we will welcome our first Soiree: A Saturday afternoon pot-luck dinner party ...An Earth-Lover's pot-luck dinner camping party with Live Music, Campfires, Big Screen Outdoor Movies, star-gazing and a lovely crested moon

FUNDS DISTRIBUTION:

A portion of proceeds to benefit..the Kittrell-Wilson Cemetery Restoration Fund,

historic preservation projects of The Houston Informer Foundation and 
Walker County’s original Tuskegee - Rosenwald School Acres.

50% of the Rosenwald Centennial Project’s net proceeds are earmarked to renovate the graves of the Wilson-Kittrell Cemetery, the site of the Rosenwald school’s founders and their multi-generational caregivers buried behind Rosenwald Acres;

25% will benefit the "STEPPIN' BACK IN TIME" traveling photo exhibits and historical preservation projects of HOUSTON INFORMER FOUNDATION, INC. (HIFI) NPO # 86-2509947 . This 130 year old newspaper network chronicled the history of African Americans in Houston, Dallas, Galveston, Huntsville, Beaumont, Austin, New Orleans and greater East Texas....www.HoustonInformerFoundation.org


The final 25% will cover project administration expenses and aid in the conversion of the newly cleared grounds into a earth-friendly solar-powered homestead ...with solar powered AWG (atmoshperic water Generation) rather than traditional wells; and eventually two tiny home Boxabl Casitas (www.boxabl.com) .. paying homage to the 2-room school building that formerly stood on the land.

An oasis of education, established in the 1920s black community of North Hutsville that nurtured and allowed so many tiny, shiny minds to blossom.
