This event is organized by Evan Rumble and supported by Indrani Healing Arts, Naturist in the OC, SCNA, Camping Bares and YNA-SoCal.
PARKING WILL BE AN ISSUE SO PLEASE TRY TO ORGANIZE CARPOOLS AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
When to arrive: Target being down at the beach at 11:00 a.m. or as close after as possible so we can get organized and assigned to a group coordinator or group steward.
What to Bring: Consider this your normal day at the beach so please bring: plenty of sunscreen, plenty of water (there is no available drinking water on the beach), food or snacks for the day, towel, umbrella, beach chair, flip flops or foot gear for the hot sand, clothes and comfortable footwear for the trail.
Toilets: Please remember there are no toilets or drinkable water at Black’s Beach so please go before coming.
Trail: If you have never been to Black’s Beach be aware that the trail down to the beach is probably about 0.8 miles but with a 400 foot elevation drop. It is a dirt trail with large steps.
Where do we meet: From where the main trail with the steps coming down from the glider port meets the beach turn right and head up the beach about three or four hundred yards and look for naturist groups banners and flags and an area that will be staked out and cordoned off.
Preparation: Once at the beach look for an area outside the cordoned off area to set up your chairs, umbrellas, towels, etc. Then come over to the cordoned off checkpoint (pink square) for directions and registration (we will number each individual with a marker). However, you must participate in the process described below to be included in the official count for Guinness World Record. Once all participants are accounted for we will verbally announce rules and count down for water entry.
Skinny Dip Process: The skinny dip and count will take place close to 2 p.m. however we must follow a specific procedure required by Guinness World Records so the process will start a good while before then. Make sure you have a good layer of sunscreen on so you are ready. When instructed please leave your towel and clothes behind and look for and join your stewards or group organizer in the designated area. Each group will have about 50 skinny dippers that must be naked. When instructed one group at a time will proceed through a funnel or gate where the official counters will be with click counters. The group will need to go through the gate in single file and straight into the water. Please try and stay in the same area as your steward. At this point you simply need to stay in the water. Once the first group of 50 is in, the next group of 50 will follow and like this till all groups are in the water. Then a horn will sound and everyone needs to go in at least waist deep. At this time a 2nd horn will sound at which time two timers will start their stop watches. The time keepers will time five minutes. Anyone that leaves the water before these five minutes are up will be discounted from the count so please stay in the water. Once the five minutes are up then a 3rd horn will sound at which time you may exit the water.
Photography: As the Skinny-Dip attempt is on a public beach many participants, members of the media and even bystanders might take your picture. It is legal for them to do so and everyone has a camera nowadays. If you don’t want to be photographed at all it is best to not participate. That said, it is still common courtesy to ask permission before taking close ups of individuals, be polite and many participants will be happy to oblige. On the other hand it is strongly recommended that you do not take any children’s pictures without their parent’s permission.
Children: The Guinness World Record does not have an age requirement for participants so children are welcome. However, your children are your responsibility as always. There are no assigned babysitters. Please make sure your children are well behaved and not obnoxious and above all make sure the are safe on the beach and in the water. Simply put, be a good parent.
Beach Day: While not prepping or participating in the record attempt simply enjoy yourself and have a fun beach day and above all stay safe and don’t get over sunburnt.
