Laura Mulks-Elworthy is an Anishinaabe/Ojibwe Métis musician and an accomplished ceramic sculptor. She is the owner and operator of Living Dust Ceramics, based on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. 

She proudly descends from the historic Bottineau and LaPointe lines: two foundational families of the Métis Nation. Her ancestry traces back to the renowned Pierre Bottineau (1817–1895), a celebrated Métis guide and leader. Laura’s lineage connects directly to Pierre’s sister, extending her family’s history in the Red River and Pembina regions to generations prior to Pierre’s own prominence. 

For Laura, singing is a sacred act of spirit, a deep, resonant connection. The only other time she feels this way is when immersed in the stillness of nature or shaping the earth into ceramic sculptures. 

Her music flows from this same spiritual source, channeling the resilience of her ancestors and the interconnected beauty of the natural world. On stage, she invites listeners into this profound space of harmony, where song becomes a bridge between the land, the spirit, and the enduring strength of her Métis heritage.
