She received her PhD in American history from George Mason University and is the author of several books, including First: The Life and Faith of Emma Smith.Jessica Nelson is a historian in the Publications Division of the Church History Department. She received a masters in history from Utah State University and coedited Documents, Volume 14 of the Joseph Smith Papers. Her work focuses on women’s history and the intersection of race and religion.Elizabeth Kuehn is a historian in the Publications Division of the Church History Department. She received her masters in religious history from Purdue University and served as coeditor of several volumes of the Joseph Smith Papers.
