Got some new arrivals to Salisbury/Rowan taking the Rowan History class so this tour will be more general history and correspond pretty heavily with places talked about during the History Class. Come on out, I'm thinking of some new places to add!
Ever driven or walked around Salisbury and wanted to know more?
Come join me on March 8th at 3pm to get some exercise, learn some history, and maybe cap it off with a great locally made beverage. The tour will last approximately an hour and a half, beginning and ending at New Sarum Brewing Company, located at 109 N Lee St, Salisbury, NC 28144. It is open to all ages, with the understanding that some topics discussed will include war, slavery, lynching, and other aspects of our history that some people may be uncomfortable with. Expect to walk at least a mile, dress appropriately for the weather, bring some water, and wear comfortable shoes.
The tour is entirely free of charge, but any gratuity given after the tour would be greatly appreciated.
About Aaron: I have 17 years of experience in public history, with lots of research time primarily focused on Rowan County. I am the director of the Rowan Museum, have started writing a county history, and love to talk to anyone who will listen about Salisbury, Rowan County, and North Carolina in general. I don't know it all, though, and I hope to find new avenues of research from talking with folks on the tour about things they have heard about our history.
Any questions, send me a message. I don't always see comments on the event page.
