Nervous about upcoming holiday stress? Join North Shore Insight Meditation Center for our annual holiday lovingkindness offering, with Matthew Daniell and Effie Stavrulaki.
The Dalai Lama said, “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.” Yet, in our hearts we often do not feel love for ourselves or others, and we bear the painful consequences. In this workshop, we will explore time-tested Buddhist practices that tap the power of intention through offering phrases of lovingkindness (or metta) and compassion (or karuna) to ourselves and others. When cultivated, lovingkindness and compassion practices help us to heal our own hearts by loving ourselves more deeply. They can also help us touch those in our lives and the world with a deeper sense of love and connection. Touching love for ourselves and others can be especially helpful during the holiday season, with all of its inherent stresses. All are welcome.
Matthew Daniell is the guiding teacher of NSIMC. He has been practicing Buddhist meditation since the 1980s, including over a decade in Asia, where he practiced intensively in Japan, India, Burma, Thailand.
