- **Event Description**: Join longtime-Salisbury resident Ileen Dunivent, for an informal talk based on her memoir: Stories for My Kids: Learning to Yodel and Other Life Lessons published in 2023. Ileen was born August 11, 1934 in the Colorado mountains, but moved at age 10 to Missouri. Now, age 91, Ileen lives in Salisbury across the street from where she and her late husband Orville Dunivent, began their fruitful union. 
Orville died in 2022 after a long decline in which he lost his eyesight and became bedridden. Chariton County residents will remember him from his many years as an insurance agent and for the credit union franchise he and Ileen ran (now the site of The Bistro.) Both were also active community boosters and church members. 
After losing Orville, Ileen immersed herself in writing a memoir for future generations. “Stories for My Kids” was published in 2023. She followed that in 2024 with an illustrated children’s book, “I’m Little Girl”. It contains 19 original watercolors.
Today, Ileen keeps busy with art projects and lessons – and new book ideas. She may be confined to a wheelchair, but her indomitable spirit’s strong as ever. Ileen's a born storyteller and would welcome the chance to share some of her experiences with you.
