— The Salinas Hometown Heroes Banner Committee invites the community to join a special day of remembrance on Saturday, May 10, 2025, to honor the brave soldiers of Company C, 194th Tank Battalion.
In 1941, these courageous men departed from Salinas with unwavering strength and duty, boarding a train that would carry them into the heart of World War II history. Through fierce battles, captivity, and unimaginable hardship, they demonstrated extraordinary bravery. Some returned home bearing scars, both seen and unseen. Others made the ultimate sacrifice, and their legacy remains woven into the fabric of our nation’s freedom.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. under the Salinas Arch at Main. Community members are invited to participate in a day of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude, featuring:
• A historical reading recounting the story of Company C’s service and sacrifice
• A remembrance procession retracing the historic path from downtown Salinas to the train station
• A banner dedication honoring these brave soldiers
