Come and be swept away to a dazzling oasis of sun, sand, and palm trees! Well, okay, be swept away to a comfy rural grange hall with a period Middle Eastern feast and a whole lot of lovely music!
Join us for the annual Mists Bardic Competition as we support Their Royal Highnesses in selecting the next Bard of the Mists!
Bring out your best performance art pieces to showcase and see if you will win against the other fine competitors. There will be five rounds of competition, which will be:
• Period Piece: Perform a piece written before 1600 CE.
• Piece in a period style: An original piece written in any
documented style.
• Masterwork: A piece that shows off your best abilities. (Does not have to be original)
• Three Words from a Hat: You will have fifteen minutes to write an original piece including three words drawn from a literal hat. Merriment, silliness, and audience participation encouraged!
• Bard’s Choice: To Be Announced
To sweeten the deal, there will also be a Middle Eastern style feast, cooked by Caitlin O’Byrne and friends. The menu will be heavily based on two period Persian sources (Dining at the Safavid Court and Bavarchi’s A Persian Cookbook: The Manual). There will be lots of vegetarian options, and we will do our best to accommodate allergies with advanced notice. An ingredients list will be made available the day of the feast.

From the North or South: Take Highway 101 to Salinas. Take San Miguel Canyon Road past the Prunedale shopping center, then turn right onto Moro Road between the Valero and the Auto Supply store. Site will be on your right.
