About the event

Mountain Mama Summit
Join us at the Mountain Mama Summit for a day of inspiration, connection, and celebration.

About this Event

A huge thanks to our 2026 Sponors: Chaffee County Public Health, The Chaffee County Deparment of Human Services, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Salida Early Childhood Center, City of Salida, and High Country Bank! We couldn't do this event without their support.

The Mountain Mama Summit is designed to inspire, connect, and celebrate parents and caregivers in and around Chaffee County. At the event, you’ll hear from incredible speakers through engaging workshops, as well as our opening and closing sessions and our We Are Chaffee panel of local storytellers. You’ll feel celebrated with mini breakfast burritos from Pizza Rio, a delicious catered lunch by Kalamatapit Catering, a gift bag full of goodies, raffle prizes, and more! Most importantly, we hope you leave feeling connected and supported, whether you come with friends or are meeting new people for the first time, because this year, our focus is on creating a sense of belonging for every parent and caregiver in our community.

Since 2017, this event has grown and evolved, and we’re so proud of what we’ve created this year. Drawing on lessons learned, suggestions from friends, and evaluation feedback, we’ve designed a day that is simpler, more intentional, and full of heart. We hope the thoughtfulness and care of our planning team shine through every detail of this special day.

We will discuss all the ways that kids these days are different than how we were. We will dive into various ways to connect with and ensure that kids feel belonging and love as they navigate the challenges of living in our world today.

🕑: 10:15 AM - 10:45 AM

🕑: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Workshop Choice 1: Connecting Through Sex: Even When Your Brain is Full
Host: Stacy York Nation

Info: Marriage, partnership, and long-term coupledom is full of ups and downs. We often have a hard time connecting in the bedroom when our brains are filled with to-do lists, errands to run, and the unspoken load of ensuring a family runs like a well-oiled machine. This breakout session will discuss sex, communication, resentment, and how everything we do outside the bedroom, impacts all that we do inside the bedroom. You'll leave with strategies to close the gap between what you want and need and what your partner wants and needs.

🕑: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Workshop Choice 2: You're Not Failing- You're Overstimulated
Host: Carmel Burton

Info: Parenting rarely unravels during the big moments — it unravels in the everyday ones.

This pull-away session offers simple, achievable regulation tools you can use right inside your home, supporting children of all ages and the adults who care for them — without needing perfection, extra time, or a calm place to start.

Together, we’ll explore how nervous systems actually work in real family life, why so many parents feel overwhelmed and dysregulated, and how small, gentle shifts can bring meaningful relief to the day-to-day.

No fixing. No overhauls.

Just support that fits inside real life.

🕑: 11:45 AM - 01:00 PM
Lunch
Host: Michelle Gapp - Kalamata Pit Catering

Info: As many of you know, Michelle Gapp's food is a treat. It's unique, delicious and healthy. *NEW* this year - lunch options! You're welcome to just eat a slow and leisurely lunch (WTF does that even feel like?!), but if you'd like something to do during lunch, consider the options of Book Club, yoga or a walk.

🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Lunch Book Club (extra cost - register ahead of time)
Host: Book Club Salida

Join us to listen to stories of belonging from three local women, followed by a Q&A panel led by Tuyl Mogabgab.

🕑: 01:45 PM - 02:30 PM
Closing: You Belong
Host: Tuyl Mogabgab

Info: The last session will return us to the heart of why we gather at the Mountain Mama Summit: a sense of belonging. So many of us experience layers of loneliness in our journey of motherhood, and this closing session will honor that - our diverse stories, our unique challenges, and the quiet truth that none of us were meant to do this alone. This time together is an invitation to humility, compassion, connection, and community, the makeup of belonging.

🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Optional Social Hour - SteamPlant Ballroom

Info: If you need to get home to your family, totally fine. If you don't - please stay! This social hour is meant to be a time to connect with other locals. We'll have a cash bar and free non-alcoholic drinks. We hope you are able to make new friends, connect with old friends, or just stay away from your home responsibilities for just a little bit longer.
