Two Harps Dancing-Laura Zaerr and Jeff Parsons

Two of Willamette Valley’s premier harpists team up for an evening of harp duos, ranging in style from Renaissance dances to world premier performances. Jeff and Laura have known each other since both were taking lessons with Sally Maxwell in Eugene in the late 1970s. They both went on to pursue harp degrees at the University of Oregon where they continued to collaborate. Jeff finished his PHD in music history at Texas Tech University, and Laura earned her master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music. Laura and Jeff both eventually settled in the Corvallis / Albany area to develop careers teaching and playing in various orchestras throughout Oregon. The two friends share a slightly quirky sense of humor and a love of playing together. Their programing is varied in style and genre, often with an original piece or two by Laura. Dr. Parson’s insightful program notes lend a personal touch to their performances.
