Dentalium were used for many purposes by Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest but traditionally as the main form of currency and trade such as the Takelma Rogue River and Umpqua Indians in Northern California. Dentalium shells were used for jewelry making, decorating regalia, for trade, for spiritual reasons and seen as a symbol of status.The class is hosted by Flower Crush, located in downtown, historic Salem, Oregon, close to the Riverfront Park at 357 Court Street NE.
