- **Event Description**: We are delighted to welcome back Gawain Glenton to direct a day devoted to the colossal motets written by Johann Stadlmayr for the Habsburg princes in Innsbruck. Little-known today, Stadlmayr was an important figure in the 17th century. Praised by Praetorius, he held a succession of distinguished posts at the Tirolean courts of Archdukes of Austria Maximillian III and Leopold V. Stadlmayr’s largest-scale music stretches to 22 or 25 parts and combines cornetts, trombones, violins, violas and multiple choirs of singers.

The choice of repertoire for this workshop will be tailored as closely as possible to the ensemble on the day, but will hopefully include two 12-part motets: Deus qui glorificantes and Domine quis habitabit.

This workshop will benefit from a good number of both voices and instrumentalists (cornetts, sackbuts, curtals, recorders, violin family (including modern strings), viols). Instrumentalists, please book as early as possible to allow the preparation of parts.

Workshop fees are £20 for NWEMF (and other EMF) members booked before 30 August (£25 after), and £25 for non-members (£30 after). Full-time students can join as members for free, and only pay £5 for workshops.
