Through conversation, reflection, and shared learning, we will explore our relationship with the waters, as well as the plants and animals that depend on and care for them alongside us. Together, we will explore our relationship with water through a short guided meditation, followed by a creative art activity. Participants will paint a glass as a reminder of their connection to Nibi and the teachings it offers. We will close our evening in song, gratitude, and community.Giiwedini Binesiikwe (Gio Antell Cerise) is a citizen of White Earth Nation. As a mom, water walker, part owner of the family business, Hobby Farmer Foods making a heritage beverage called Switchel and Reiki Master Teacher, Gio’s path is guided by the traditional values of stewardship and community care. Through her personal practice, Giiwe-ode (Return home to the Heart), and her work tending to sacred tobacco at the Indigenous Peoples Task Force (IPTF), she bridges ancient plant medicine with gentle energy healing. She believes that healing ourselves is inseparable from healing the earth.PLEASE NOTE- Dress for the weather & be prepared to walk. Please drive into the second parking lot labeled "park entrance". She grew up in Imnížaska (Saint Paul), Minnesota. She studied Dakóta language and culture at Metro State University. She is the author of Takoza: Walks With the Blue Moon Girl, Animals of Khéya Wíta, Animals of Nimaamaa-Aki, and Awáŋkičhiyaka pi. Tara is inspired by the loving hearts of her sons: she is a creator, plant medicine enthusiast, and has always loved to write.
