- **Event Description**: *The tour is free, but donations are accepted and will be used to repair historic stones in the cemetery.*   To get into the spirit of St. Valentine’s Day, belated, we are offering a “Love Tour” of Oak Grove Cemetery. Unlike the usual history tour, this presentation will be based on historical romances of the town of St. Marys as well as the love of a parent for a child, love between friends and siblings, and St. Marys warmth in receiving and caring for those who came here from up north for their health.

Love letters, letters regarding confirmed bachelors who “saw the light,” and tragic losses of loved ones in war or illness or accident will be presented. This tour is unique in celebrating love stories that call to mind our history through the struggles and joys of St. Marys residents of the past. Unlike researching most history through events, interpreting the feelings of those who participated is often difficult.

Stories include the war time wedding of Dr. Charles Hardee and Elizabeth Greenwood Richardson, and the tragic loss of the USS Lynx, Lt. John Ripley Madison commanding.

The tour is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, at 9:00 a.m. Reservations can be made by calling 912-882-5301 and leaving your name, the number of those in your party and a contact number in case a rain or cold weather date is needed. Please meet at the main gate on W**d Street. *The tour is free, but donations are accepted and will be used to repair historic stones in the cemetery.*
