For almost 2 decades, the St. George Interfaith Council has held a “Prayer Over the City” program on New Year’s Day. 2026 marks the 19th one-hour program where religious leaders in St. George offer prayers focused on specific topics such as families, military, first responders and our military. Prayers are offered by faith leaders from at least 16 local churches, including Catholic, Presbyterian, US Army Reserve, Jewish, Lutheran, Baptist, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Baha’i, Methodist, Islam, Episcopal, Orthodox Christian, Center for Spiritual Living, Unitarian, Pentecostal, Salvation Army and others.
