Matt VanFossen is not your average cookie-cutter country artist. He is real, he is honest, and he is true to the music he loves. Through his personal tragedy and triumphs, music has always been there, and his powerful and heartfelt vocals grab you from the first note.
His latest single is no exception. Produced by Mike Ofca, “Where You Gonna Run to Now“ is a song that talks about running from your problems. The lyrics, “When you run out of roads, run out of reasons, run out of luck and lies to believe in, Where You Gonna Run to Now?”, are powerful and relatable to all. It's about letting go; knowing that you deserve better, and finding that strength to leave the past behind. Everyone has that certain someone in their lives that they'd like to say, ”you missed your chance... you lost the best thing that ever happened to you."
Born of One-Nighters
Starting out, the idea of living the road band life was the last thing on Matt's mind. After doing all the local gigs, and the same venues over and over, it became apparent that the only way for Matt and his bandmates to evolve was to hit the road. Over the next five years, the band logged thousands of gigs — with the occasional festival appearance — in cities across the country. Their time on the road proved crucial in shaping Matt's sound, as he saw the people who listened to his music - their lives, their friends, their stories.
Looking to the Future
With a brand-new album just released, and a new single climbing the country charts, Matt is packing up the gear to visit new cities and states in 2025, as he branches out. The set list will prominently feature songs from This is How You Lost Me, as well as diving into favorites from previous releases.
