About the event

Maple Sugaring
LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve is hosting Maple Sugaring Days and the 1843 Durant-Peterson House and Sholes School Museums will be open!

Join us on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8 from 1-4 PM to hear how the pioneers used maple sugar and maple syrup as an organic sweetener. Warm yourself by the fire, both outside and inside, as we discuss 19th-century recipes.

Stop by the one-room Sholes School Museum where the Teacher will read maple syrup poems and show kids how to make a maple leaf puzzle.
